Larry's DATE 2008 Trip (6)
The above picture is walking from the subway
station to the convention center, which is on the site of the former
airport. Visible on the left is a tall, narrow, red building with
a windowed top floor, which was the control tower. This picture
was taken on Thursday morning. I didn't take any pictures on
Wednesday. I would get up, get dressed and have breakfast at 7:30
AM, get to the convention center at 8:30 AM and listen to speeches
until 6:00 PM. By the time I got "home" and went out for dinner,
I wouldn't be done for the day until 9:00 PM.

The above picture is of my Ph.D. advisor,
Professor Papachristou, who was doing an "interactive presentation,"
explaining his paper to people who came by. He also moderated a
session on Wednesday, introducing the speakers and calling on audience
members who had questions for the speaker.

In the picture above, I am again looking out
from the third floor to the first, but this time directly at the
entrance to the building. The exhibitors are packing up their
booths because it is the end of the day Thursday and the end of the
conference.
